About Me

I am an associate professor in Philosophy in the Faculty of Arts at Toronto Metropolitan University, member of the Graduate Program in Philosophy and the Graduate Program in Environmental Applied Science and Management (EnSciMan). Throughout my interdisciplinary education (with degrees in philosophy, law, and environmental studies) and continuing interdisciplinary research, I have been intrigued by many spaces of intersection between law and morality, fascinated by differentiation between legal rights and moral rights in the context of human rights, and passionate about possibilities and challenges for pursuing social justice and ecological sustainability. I am immersed in several current projects: (i) Transforming Legal Rights: Inclusion for Transgender Persons [book for Lexington]; (ii) Rethinking Compliance in International Law: The Case of Human Rights. I have longstanding interests in teaching courses relating to ethics, human rights, philosophy of law and punishment, professional ethics, and environmental law and policy.
